그냥 틴토레토, 틴토레토, 틴토레토.......

The Scuola Grande di San Rocco

The Scuola di San Rocco, or School of St. Roch, the patron saint of plague victims, began in 1478 as a Scuola dei Battuti and after various vicissitudes, it built its first independent headquarters near the Frari at the end of the century. These consisted of the small building to the right of the church, today known as Scoletta or "small school", and the church dedicated to St. Roch for the proper preservation of his body, which the Scuola had acquired in 1485. 

The Deep veneration for this saint, whom people called upon during the frequent, terrible plague epidemics, visiting his tomb and imploring him to heal them, and at the same time leaving abundant alms, caused the Scuola to grow rapidly so that during the 16th Century it became the richest of the Venetian confraternities. 

In 1789 it received the title of "Arch-confraternity" from Pop Pius the fourth, and it was the only one of the old Great Scuole which survived the fall of the Republic. All the others were in fact suppressed by Napoleonic decree in 1806. For our Scuola, the order was revoked, although on that occasion it did lose most of its assets, which consisted of huge sums of capital deposited in state coffers, houses, shops and land. It did however keep, and it still has, the ownership of the buildings of the Scuola, the church and the Scoletta. 

Today the brotherhood, with its over 300 male and female members, is still active, and substantially still continues the same charitable works as of old, as well as looking after its notable artistic heritage. 

이상 지상층 Sala Terrena

계단 층의 거대한 캔버스화들. 베네치아의 흑사병을 구제하는 성모 마리아의 모습이다. 

이 조각상은 틴토레토로 추정된다. 

나무로 조각한 책꽂이와 책들인데 실제와 분간이 가지 않을 정도로 사실적이다. 

Sala dell'Albergo에는 틴토레토의 대표작 중 하나인 Crucifixion. 압도적이다. 이 그림을 위해 이 Sala를 따로 마련한 듯 하다. 

세로 5.18m, 가로 12.24m의 거대한 역작으로 1565년 화가가 47살 무렵에 완성했다.  

틴토레토의 천장 캔버스화이다. 눈에 띄게 밝은 톤이 특징이다. 예외적으로 검은 배경이 없는 틴토레토의 그림이다.  

틴토레토 (1518-94)는 사실 그의 별칭이고 본명은 Jacopo Comin 또는 Robusti이다. 그는 16세기 후반, 베네치아 르네상스 미술의 거장이었던 티치아노 Tiziano, Titian(EN) (1485-1576)의 후계자이다. 그의 스승이 유럽의 여러 왕실과 영주들의 그림을 위해 여행했던 반면, 틴토레토는 베네치아를 좀처럼 떠나지 않고 베네치아 의뢰인들의 작품을 남겼다. 또한 이전에 존재하지 않은 방식의 알타피스들을 남겼고 당대의 또 다른 위대한 화가였던 Paolo Veronese와 더불어부유한 상인, 군인 그리고 귀족들로 부터 의뢰받은 많은 작품들을 미술 시장에 선보였다. 

위의 Crucifixion은 미켈란젤로의 기법에 티치아노의 색을 더해 만들어낸 명작으로 평가받는다. 또한 그는 베네치아의 스쿠올라에서 다수의 종교화에 매진했다. 

흥미로운 사실은 그가 인물을 그릴 때 그 인물의 왁스 모델을 만들어 사용했다는 점이다. 큰 그림을 그릴 때 모델과 함께 움직이며 빛을 여러 방향으로 비추면서 그 효과를 직접 확인하면서 그림을 그렸다.    

오후에 갑갑한 나머지 머리를 식히려 근처 팔라쪼에 그림구경을 갔다. 

비엔날레 전시 중 하나였는데 마침 사정으로 인해 문을 닫았다. 

대신 바로 근처의 Chiesa di Santa Maria del Carmelo가 열려있어 처음으로 들어가 보았다. 간단히 Carmini라고 불리기도 한다. 나중에 알게 됐지만 여기엔 베네치아 르네상스의 거장 Cima del Conegliano, Tintoretto, Lorenzo Lotto, Pietro Liberi의 그림들이 걸려있는 대단한 성당이었다. 

Campo S. Margherita 끝자락에 있는 이 고딕 형태의 성당을 정말 여러번 지나 다녔다. 

베네치아 성당은 언제나 하나의 거대한 갤러리다. 특히 고딕 그리고 르네상스 초기 성당을 가면 너무도 유명한 르네상스 작품들을 너무 쉽게 볼 수 있어 찾아다는게 아주 즐겁다. 

까르미니는 인근 스쿠올라 까르미니와 관련이 있어서 실내가 아주 화려하다. 채플 뿐만 아니라 네이브 양측면이 모두 캔버스화로 가득채워져 있다. 

Cima da Conelgliano의 Adoration of Shepherds (1509-1510)

In addition to the adoring shepherds, St Catherine, St Helen, as well as Tobit and the Archangel Raphael are represented in the scene.

Background scene: shepherd and shepherd boy were in the countryside with their dog and their flock. The shepherd was leaning on a tree playing his pipes while the boy dozed at his feet. 한 눈에 봐도 딱 틴토레토다. Jacopo Tintoretto, Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. 

처음 알게 된 Lorenzo Lotto. Saint Nicolas of Bari between St. John the Baptist and St. Lucy . 

흥미로운 점을 발견했다. 

네이브 기둥들의 베이스 높이가 다들 제각각이다. 그 뿐만 아니라 형태 그리고 마모도도 달라보인다. 아마도 오래된 것들과 교체된 것 들이 함께 공존해서 그런 것이 아닐까 싶다.
